Jackie Chan recently said, "I'm not sure if it's good to have freedom or not, I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want." Do you agree/disagree? If so, how far do you think the Chinese will go with doing what they want? I've lived in China and they talk like this. He doesn't mean chinese people in particular need laws and controls but that they don't want the wild freedoms of the west. they don't want strip clubs, crack problems, and the movie image of gangsters running wild in the streets. They feel things should be regulated and people not allowed to just do whatever they want. We certainly have many laws here. When he says this 'freedom' is not good. He's talking about regulation of industry. In fact if you knew he was speaking specifically about regulation of the Chinese film industry.
