How important is the photographers job in photography?
Q. Obviously the photographer is needed to take the picture, but as things digitize it seems the photographer looses some of their usefulness. Take fashion photography, the setting is already there, the makeup and clothing is already there too, the taking of the picture seems quite mechanical at this point. As an ameteur photographer, I think patience plays a large part of my 'job'. The patience to look for worthy material and to wait for the right moment to take the picture. Editing software can take care of any small tweaks that are needed...so besides patience, what else is needed in order to take a great photo these days? and is the photographers usefulness diminishing?

A. No matter how complex cameras become, they cannot make the photograph. take for instance, fashion photography. Yes, the sets and makeup are there, but the photographerr had some say in the overall design. wildlife photography, on the other hand, is all about the photographe. The6 photographer has to know when and where his subject will be. he has to know how to position and conceal himself. It is he that makes the decisions as to what piece of equipment will do the job. The photojournalist has to look at the human side of every photograph he takes. A digital camera, no matter how sophisticated, cannot know what will bring out the emotion of an audience. Likewise, a sports photographer has to have the instinct to catch that perfect moment… [cont.]

What are some problems photographers face when it comes to business and competition?
Q. Obviously there's issues with the commercial availability of photographers, the availability of high resolution cameras, and software that allows the average person to edit photographs and make them professional quality, but what are some more issues photographers/photography faces?

A. There is a h u g e misconception here. The professional quality images are produced in conjunction with the camera and photographer. Software has nothing to do with making professional quality images. This issues facing photographer is having the ability to produce images that are perfectly exposed and composed so the end user (client, photo editor or art director) does not have to make any changes in what cames out of the camera. This takes a lot of experience and at least a few years of formal education (unless you want to end up in front of a computer trying to correct mistakes made in the camera). The largest two problems we pros face are these: The cost of supporting digital photography is huge when compared to shooting film.… [cont.]

How many photographers/videographe rs did you have at your wedding?
Q. I'm having a big wedding. Do you think 2 photographers and 2 videographers will be enought to get great coverage of the wedding?

A. At my wedding I had 2 videographers & 2 photographers and I got coverage of everything. To be exact I had 8 hours of wedding day coverage The movie(Cinematic edit - 45 min) The ceremony (Full length edit) The highlights (10 minute web hosted recap) 3 standard DVDs, 1HD Blu-ray DVD And over 1000 pictures! That's a lot! So I think you should be fine.
